The Mysterious Island

Five Union prisoners of war escape in a hot air balloon, only to crash-land on an uncharted volcanic island in the South Pacific. The castaways, led by the resourceful Captain Cyrus Harding, use their scientific knowledge to survive and build a thriving colony they name “Lincoln Island,” while benefiting from a mysterious benefactor who secretly aids them. They later discover the benefactor is Captain Nemo, who has been living in his submarine, the Nautilus, in a hidden port on the island.
