From the Earth to the Moon

From the Earth to the Moon is an 1865 science fiction novel by Jules Verne about the Baltimore Gun Club, a group of American Civil War veterans who decide to build a giant cannon, the “Columbiad,” to launch a projectile to the Moon. The story follows their ambitious project, which becomes a manned mission when a French adventurer joins the crew alongside the project’s leaders, but the novel ends with the projectile orbiting the Moon, leaving its landing ambiguous. The sequel, Around the Moon, continues the journey and was published in 1870. Both volumes are included in this edition.
